Since its founding, the Commission has conducted a series of studies and issued a number of reports on a broad range of civil rights issues. Among these are reports concerning the strengthening of fair housing laws, continued barriers to voter registration, equal employment and affirmative action policies in the private sector, the jurisdiction of the federal courts in school desegregation cases, and comprehensive reviews of the civil rights policies of the Reagan, Bush and Clinton Administrations. In each instance, the Commission's work has been timed to coincide with ongoing public debate over the issues studied.
